Stanley B. Moore
grew up playing hockey in
Walpole, Massachusetts.
While in high school he received
the Bay Shore League MVP Award.
Stanley went on to Clarkson
University were he played hockey
and baseball.
Mr. Moore,
known as the "Dean of New York
State Hockey",
coached Massena High School
Hockey for an incredible
33-years, from 1960 to 1993
after one year as the JV Coach.
He was also a referee for area
college hockey games. During his time at the helm he
led his Red Raiders to-

Stan also
served as Section X Chairperson
for eight years and Northern New
York Hockey League President for
five years.
He was honored
by the American Hockey Coaches Association
in 1974, 1985 and was the
1996
recipient of the John Mariucci
Award. This award
is presented annually to a
secondary school coach in memory
of the "Godfather of Minnesota
Hockey," John Mariucci, who
was an outstanding college coach
and also a driving force behind
the growth of hockey in the
United States. In 1987 the
AHCA created this award to honor
a secondary school association
coach who best exemplifies the
spirit, dedication and
enthusiasm.
Stan was also
an outstanding golf coach at
Massena Central High School, a
position he held for 23 years,
winning many league and
sectional titles.
Stan was also
inducted into New York State
Public High School Hall of Fame
in 2010.
