Ray Dupree
grew up in Saranac Lake in the
1930's, graduating from Saranac
Lake High School in 1942.
Ray went on to receive a
Bachelor of Arts degree from
Colorado State University, and
later earned a Master of Arts
from New York University.
Mr. Dupree was a veteran of the
U.S. Army, serving as a staff
sergeant during WWII from
1943-1946. He was employed
as physical education director
at Salmon River Central School
in Fort Covington. While
at Salmon River, Ray was also a
basketball referee, a football,
baseball, and hockey coach, and
was instrumental in starting the
hockey program.
Sadly, Ray
passed away Tuesday, January 27,
1998 at the age of 73.

Hall of Fame, March
1997, for his
dedication to the
sport as a truly
great coach who has
contributed
noteworthy service
to New York State
high school hockey. |
