Mike Hurlbut was
born and raised in Massena where
he played youth hockey. He
went on to play high school
hockey for the Massena Red
Raiders, then went on to
Northwood School in Lake Placid.
Mike was a member of the 1982
Massena Red Raiders New York State Championship
team.
Mike played
for 4 years at St. Lawrence
University (1985-89) where
he earned first team
All-American honors and was a
member of the two winning-est
teams in Saint hockey history in
1988-89, graduating in 1989.
He was drafted
by New York Rangers in 1988
NHL supplemental draft as a
defensemen and also played
for the New York Rangers,
Quebec Nordiques, and
Buffalo Sabres. Mike
went on to play several years at
the AHLan IHL level for the
Rochester Americans and Houston
Aeros.
Mike is currently
assistant coach at St.
Lawrence University.

1999, for his
dedication to the
sport as a truly
great player who has
contributed
noteworthy service
to New York State
