Bill MacArthur
started his teaching
career at the
Shenendehowa School
District in 1969
after graduating
from Jacksonville
State University.
A position he has
held for over 32
years.
In
1981 he helped start
the Shenendehowa
High School Hockey
program, after
having coached for
several years at the
youth hockey level
in the Schenectady
and Clifton Park
Youth Hockey
Associations.
In
his 20 years behind
"Shen's" bench, Bill
has led his
Plainsmen to: 2
Suburban Council
Championships, 5
CDHSHL Delvecchio
Cup Championships, 8
Section II
Runner-ups, 2
Section II
Championships, and 1
Eastern Regional
Championship, and
has had several
former players go on
to Collegiate and
Professional
Hockey. He has also
had the pleasure of
coaching both of his
sons, Trevor and
Peter, at the high
school level for the
Plainsmen.
Bill "hung up his
skates" at the
conclusion of the
2000-2001 season
with an incredible
Combined Record of
316 Wins, 175
Losses, and 16 Ties.
This overall record
currently ranks him
in the top-10 among
the top High School
Hockey Coaches in
New York State.
Bill plans to
continue teaching
and coaching his
"second sport",
tennis, as Head
Coach of
Shenendehowa's
Varsity Tennis Team.
Bill was inducted
into the New York
State High School
Hockey Hall of Fame,
March 2005, for his
dedication to the
sport as a truly
great coach who has
contributed
noteworthy service
to New York State
high school hockey. |
